Wylie ISD Approves 26-Cent Property Tax Hike for 2024-2025 School Year
The Abilene Reporter-News says that the Wylie Independent School District School Board has agreed to a new property tax rate for the school year 2024–2025. There is now a $1.1506 fee for every $100 of property value, which is 26 cents more than last year. The cash will be used to fix up the school, run it, and settle bills.
Superintendent Joey Light said that the state wants the district to use the biggest tax rate possible, or else the district could get in trouble. Besides that, he said that even though taxes are going up, the general rate is still less than it was in 2020. It has never been this low for the part of the tax that goes to maintenance.
