The UNC Health Rockingham Foundation Board of Directors is pleased to welcome Nathan Kelley, DPT, Ingrid McCraw, and Carlissa Wall as new members. They will serve for three years at first. The board is made up of business leaders and innovators, people who care about the community, and health professionals who want to help UNC Health Rockingham, its patients, and their care teams.
Board Chair Sam Phillips said, “It is important that residents who are informed and involved come together as we look for funding and make investments to make health care available in our rural community.” “We’re thrilled that Nathan, Ingrid, and Carlissa have agreed to join the UNC Health Rockingham Foundation Board of Directors. Their addition will help us reach more of our neighbors with high-quality care.”
The UNC Health Rockingham Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, has been working with the local community since its start in 1996 to raise money for the hospital. The money goes to help patients, fund clinical scholarships, and invest in capital projects for things like buying new equipment, making the hospital look better, and more. The UNC Health Rockingham Foundation helps the hospital give all patients, no matter how much money they have, good care.
Nathan Kelley is a DPT who graduated from Duke University in 2022. He grew up in Eden. He went to Duke University and got his Doctor of Physical Therapy after getting his bachelor’s degree in exercise sports science with a focus in physiology from UNC Pembroke in 2019. Nathan is especially interested in orthopedics, neurological problems, kids, and sports treatment.
Nathan is a physical therapist at Protherapy Concepts, Inc., and he likes how his days are always different. Nathan is Vice President of the Boys and Girls Club of Eden because he really wants to help his neighborhood, especially the kids who live here. In his free time, he likes to be a foster parent to his other children and spend time with his wife Hannah and daughter.
Ingrid McCraw graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1998. She was born in Eden and raised there. In 1996, she got her associate’s degree in arts from Rockingham Community College. The next year, she got her bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Ingrid has spent time getting involved with and helping our community since she moved back to Eden. She has owned and run the Eden shop Ingrid’s Cupcakes & Confections for more than ten years. Ingrid has worked in corporate settings before, such as in the mortgage and housing fields.
For example, Ingrid is an advocate for the Eden Chamber of Commerce and works with the Theater Guild of Rockingham County, Rockingham County Schools, a number of local churches, and a large number of local non-profits. She is also a member of the Community Advisement Board for the State Employees Credit Union. In December 2018, she was named Business of the Month, and in 2022, the Eden Chamber of Commerce gave her the Distinguished Member of the Year award.
Ingrid likes to share her free time with her twin boys, Dale, her husband of 23 years, and her husband.
Carlissa Wall runs the Eden branch of First National Bank and is also the vice president of the bank. She has worked in banking for 45 years, since she started at First National Bank in 1997. She has worked with many Rockingham County groups and served on many boards during her banking career. These include the Eden Chamber of Commerce, the Salvation Army, the Kiwanis Club of Eden, and the March of Dimes Steering Committee, to name a few. She has also helped out with Junior Achievement and Habitat for Humanity as a volunteer.
Carlissa is very proud of her two children, Lacy Wall III and Brittiney Wall. They have given her so much that she could never have dreamed.
Director Erica Vernon and assistant Bethany Strader run the UNC Health Rockingham Foundation. Sam Phillips is Chair; Christy Hensley is Vice Chair; Andrea Fox is Treasurer; Carla Estes-Porter is Secretary; and Randy Hunt is Immediate Past Chair. Steve Eblin, President of the Hospital, Jeff Parris, Chair of the Hospital Board, Pete Baker, John Collins, Tara Fargis, Will Flynt, Rose Mary Nolen, and Alicia Parker are all board members right now.
