The new SNAP Produce Bonus program in Colorado gives a full refund on certain fruits and vegetables. The bonuses can be up to $20 per buy, with a maximum of $60 per month. The goal is to make healthy food easier for SNAP recipients to get.
There will be a new program in Colorado that helps people who get SNAP payments buy more healthy food, according to Western Slope Now. With the SNAP Produce Bonus program, you can get back all the money you spent on certain fruits and veggies with an EBT card. People who take part will get a bonus of up to $20 for every buy, up to a maximum of $60 per month, without having to sign up separately.
You can eat fresh, frozen, dried, or canned fruits and veggies, as well as dried beans, as long as they don’t have extra fat, salt, or sugar added. The goal of this pilot program, which also covers Washington and Louisiana, is to make it easier for people to eat better. The extra money will be added right to the EBT cards of the users.
There are already some farmers markets and food shops in Colorado that offer the bonus program, and more will be added soon. People can go to the website of the Colorado Department of Human Services to learn more and find shops that are taking part.
