Every month, there are five different paydays. For your knowledge, the Social Security Administration is in charge of making sure that the yearly payments happen. There aren’t often six payments in the same month, but it does happen sometimes.
This happens when a payment is due on a holiday or the weekend and needs to be sent on the last work day, which could be the month before. The date for getting Supplemental Security Income has changed because of this.
Social Security schedules SSI for August 30, 2024
It’s easy to see why the fifth payment is not due in September. September 1 is a Sunday, which is when SSI usually pays out. So, Social Security had to move the payment for Supplemental Security Income to the day before the work day.
It will be the last Friday in August this time. These changes are being made by SSA to make sure that the monthly payments don’t get late. People who get SSI don’t make much money, so they can’t wait any longer for their money.
Also, SSA offices and banks are both closed on the weekends. Since they are closed, they wouldn’t have time to handle payments. In any case, there will be no delays and all funds will be made on time. Still, the people who get the money will get 12 payments in 2024, one every month.
Social Security payment dates for September
Aside from the SSI payment on the first of the month, Social Security checks or direct deposits are usually due on the third. This check can go to two different groups of people.
People who retired or got SSDI before May 1997 and got benefits will get a check on September 3. Aside from them, people who get SSDI or are retired and also get SSI will also be able to get the direct payment on September 3.
Lastly, there will be three more rounds of checks sent to people who didn’t qualify for the September 3 payment. People who meet the birthday requirement will also get money from Social Security.
