SNAP stands for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program. It used to be called Food Stamps. It’s a Federal program, but the States handle applications and payments. If you use these benefits to save money on groceries, you can do so in-store or online.
As an example, on August 1, 2024, Alaska sent all of the SNAP benefits to EBT cards. That’s why everyone who was supposed to get money got it, and their next paycheck will be September 1, 2024. But until August 28, Texas and Florida will still be able to send money to EBT cards.
Which States are sending SNAP benefits this week or the next one?

SNAP payment amounts for August (19-28)
If there are eight people living in the same home, the states that still send Food Stamps can send checks for up to $1,751. Remember that full amounts don’t always mean that’s what you’ll get.
The actual amounts are a lot less. In this case, the CBPP says that a SNAP grant for a family of eight is worth about $1,196. The most a person can get is $291, but most checks are worth $202.
The most a family of four can get from SNAP is $973, but most checks are worth around $713. From October 1, 2024, people who get food stamps will gain from the 2025 COLA increase.
