SSDI and SSI payments in September
The first thing that is strange is that the September SSI check was supposed to come in August. So, people who get Supplemental Security Income will get their monthly payment on August 30.
We can see that you can get two payments in the same month. However, you will still get 12 SSI checks or direct deposits every year. People who are eligible for SSDI will get their funds on:
- payment on September 3: if you are on both Social Security and SSI
- payment on September 3: those who started getting Social Security before May 1997
- payment on September 11: birthday from 1-10*
- payment on September 18: birthday from 11-20*
- payment on September 25: birthday from 21-31*
- *these disability recipients cannot have received benefits before May 1997 and are not on SSI.
- The largest SSDI payment will be $3,822 and $1,415 for married couples on SSI. SSI for individuals can be up to $943.
How to apply for SSI and SSDI
If you want to get SSI, you need to have a certain condition, be blind, or be at least 65 years old. But this won’t be enough. In fact, you must not make much money and have few or no means.
Then, go to https://www.ssa.gov/apply/ssi and choose whether you want to apply as an adult or for your child. Check the box next to “age 65 or older,” “disability,” or “blind.” First, check to see if you can also get SSDI. If you can, mark that box. After that, click “Start application” and then “Learn how to apply.”
If you are deaf or hard of hearing, call +1 800-772-1213 or TTY +1 800-325-0778. In order to apply for SSDI, go to https://www-origin.ssa.gov/applyfordisability/ and click on the “Apply for Disability” button. After that, fill out the form online.
