Ohio SNAP Program Offers Relief for Storm-Affected Food Loss

Counties Eligible for Extended SNAP Benefits

A program in Ohio is said to help people who don’t have enough food, according to WKBN. The name of this program is SNAP, which stands for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program. Ohio has given people more time to ask for help because of the bad weather that knocked out power. So, people who lost food because the power went out can get their money back.

People who live in certain areas can use the extra time. These are the counties: Summit, Ashtabula, Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Lorain, and Cuyahoga. Until September 5, people in these areas can ask for help. They need to fill out a form and send it to the office near them. The office will check to see if the power was out for at least four hours.

Proof of Power Outage: What You Need to Know

When someone asks for help, they have to show proof that the power was really out. This could be a picture of a news story, an email or text message, or a map that shows their home was without power. They can use the money to buy food again.
