North Carolina School District Deploys Weapon Detection Tech

It was stated by Rockingham County Schools that all middle and high schools in the district will get cutting-edge systems to find weapons. These systems are called Open gate.

(TNS) — Thursday, August 22, Rockingham County Schools announced that all of its middle and high schools would have cutting-edge methods to find weapons. CEIA, a world leader in security screening solutions, makes the Open gate systems, which are known for being reliable and accurate.

Because CEIA is dedicated to excellence and new ideas, they are the first choice for security professionals all over the world, including those working at big airports, government buildings, concert and performance halls, and schools.

Adding the Ceia Open gate systems makes Rockingham County Schools’ safety measures even better. They add an extra layer of security to keep students, staff, and guests safe. The fact that the district chose to spend money on these tools shows how serious they are about making sure everyone can learn in safety.

“In this day and age, keeping our schools and school families safe is the most important thing we can do.” “Adding weapons detectors is a proactive step to improve our district’s safety protocols and protect our students, staff, spectators, and visitors,” said Sean Glorieux, Director of School Safety for Rockingham County Schools.

On April 8, J.E. Holmes Middle School was the first school in the district to use the Open gate. Our staff, kids, and families were all very supportive. Recently, high schools started using the system to look for guns at sports games.

All middle and high schools will have this safety gear on hand for all school events and on the first day of school, August 26. Along with making schools safer, finding weapons will help Rockingham County School’s clear bag policy at sports events, which started in 2023.

As part of Rockingham County Schools’ overall plan for safety and security, weapons detection tools are being put in place. The Rockingham County Schools are dedicated to making sure that all of their students can learn in a safe and secure setting.

They do this by utilizing multiple layers of security measures such as surveillance cameras, safety vestibules, vape detectors, visitor management systems, staff training, and weapons detection.

Some money from the limited sales tax and a grant from the Center for Safer Schools made it possible to buy the Ceia Open gate systems. With these two sources of money, Rockingham County Schools can spend about $475,000 to give all of their middle and high schools cutting edge security equipment.
