County of Rockingham, NC (August 8, 2024) – The Rockingham County Government is happy to say that Mandy McGhee has been hired as our new Finance Director. As of August 19, 2024, McGhee will be fully in charge of the city government, where she has worked for ten years.
A Bachelor of Business Administration from Averett University is what Mandy has. She has been an Executive Project Coordinator, a Fiscal and Operations Analyst at New College Institute, and a Residency Business Administrator for the Virginia Department of Transportation, among other jobs. Mandy’s most recent jobs were as Assistant Director of Finance and Director of Finance at the City of Martinsville.
As Assistant Director of Finance and Director of Finance, she advised the City Manager and City Council on budget and finances, led the creation of the City’s annual operating and capital budget, worked with department heads and their teams, and oversaw the Accounting, Risk Management, and Purchasing Divisions.
McGhee said, “It is an honor to take on the role of Finance Director for Rockingham County Government.” “I’m dedicated to keeping our community’s finances stable, encouraging openness, and fostering long-term growth.” When we all work together, we can create a better future based on smart money management and new ideas that benefit all of our people.
The Rockingham County Finance Office is in charge of making sure that the County’s finances are handled in a way that follows state law and generally accepted accounting standards. The office is responsible for keeping accurate accounting records, giving out money, making financial reports, overseeing the receiving and deposit of money, managing the county’s debt service, and keeping accurate accounting records. The department is also in charge of making the County’s yearly budget.
