A lot of people show up to Dominion Energy's open meetings

A lot of people came to Yanceyville on August 21 to look at maps and talk to Dominion Energy representatives about a 45-mile natural gas pipeline that would run through Rockingham, Caswell, and Person counties.

This was done to meet federal rules that require system upgrades and meet the growing demand for natural gas. One of these improvements is building a brand-new, high-tech compressor station in Ruffin.

Dominion Energy’s Persida Montanez says, “These public events were planned with the community in mind, so people could meet the project team in person and get their questions answered.” “We encourage those who couldn’t join us to visit our project website for resources and our contact information.”

The T15 Reliability Project will be built mostly along existing Dominion Energy right-of-ways so that the neighborhood will be affected as little as possible. Building could start as early as the third quarter of 2025. Dominion Energy wants to teach people about the T15 Reliability Project and how it will help meet the rising demand for natural gas caused by growth in businesses, homes, and factories.

The company also talked about how it will run the natural gas pipeline system legally, just like it has done with the pipeline that has been in the area for more than 50 years.

The new gas line will mostly run next to a line that is already there. During construction, there may be more traffic in the places that are affected, but people who live there will be given information on how to find out what’s going on and who to call if they have any problems.

“It will be good for the community because the workers will be going to local businesses,” says Montanez.
