Tallahassee Secures $21.5 Million Grant for Electric Vehicle Stations, Park Upgrades, and More

According to the Tallahassee Democrat, the city of Tallahassee is expected to receive funding that almost $21.5 million in grant money, which will be discussed at the next city commission meeting.

This money will go toward a number of projects, such as adding more charging points for electric cars, making parks better, and helping the Tallahassee Police Department. There will be a vote on these funds by commissioners just one day after the primary election. This means that the people in charge of these projects could change.

A big chunk of the money—about $15.2 million—will be used to build three new charging spots for electric cars all over the city. The San Luis Park playground will get a new playground worth $68,000, the Meadows Soccer Complex will get a new field with fake grass for $500,000.

And the Thomas P. Smith Water Reclamation Facility will get over $4.4 million to fix up its springs. The goals of these projects in Tallahassee are to make public places better and protect the environment.

Tallahassee Police and Infrastructure Projects to Benefit from $106K Grant and Land Sales

Ten thousand four hundred thirteen dollars will be given to the Tallahassee Police Department to buy new tools and supplies. Smaller amounts of money have also been set aside to buy tools for building infrastructure, do safety checks, and sell land that belongs to the city.

The land sales will bring in money to help build the airport’s International Processing Facility. These choices will be made at a meeting of the city commission at City Hall. There will also be a public hearing later that night.
