A newspaper called The Citizen says that former U.S. Representative George Santos will be in court on Long Island this afternoon. Sources say that he is likely to plead guilty to several federal theft charges. Feds and Santos’ lawyers set this last-minute court date as they get ready for a trial that was supposed to start next month. Santos has always said he is innocent, even though he is being accused of very serious crimes. On these charges, he is accused of lying about his finances, misusing campaign funds, and illegally getting jobless benefits. People used to think that Santos was a bright politician after he won a seat in a wealthy New York district in 2022. Judge Rejects Santos’ Request for Anonymous Jury and Questionnaire, Former Aides’ Guilty Pleas Add to Legal Woes

However Judge Joanna Seybert denied these requests deciding that jurors’ identities would remain public and that the questionnaire was unnecessary. Meanwhile two former aides from Santos’ campaign have already admitted guilt to related crimes complicating his legal situation further.
