Learn when you could receive your next Social Security payment, and check the average and maximum amounts the Administration will deliver soon
The Social Security Administration will not send money to retirees in the next two payments if they were already eligible for one of the last two payments. If you got a check or direct deposit on August 2, you won’t get the money on August 21 or 28.
Also, people who got their money on August 14 will not be able to get checks or direct payments on August 21 or 28. Once that is done, they need to know when their September Social Security (SSA) payment will arrive.
Social Security payments in September
If you got a monthly payment from SSA on August 2, the next one will come on September 3. Remember that you had to have started getting payments before May 1997 in order to be qualified.
Plus, you might be able to get it even if you get both Social Security and SSI funds at the same time. So, there are only two ways for retirees to get the money they are due on September 3.
If you began getting retirement benefits after April 30, 1997, and your birthday is between 1 and 10, your next payment will be due on September 11, 2024. But what about the amounts that could be used?
Social Security amounts for September: average & maximum
No matter what the paycheck is, the most a senior can get in 2024 is $4,873. That’s only possible if you filed when you were 70, made the most money that was taxed, and worked for 35 years in SSA-covered jobs.
If you meet all of these conditions but file when you are 66 years old, you can only get up to $3,822. People who file early at age 62 can get up to $2,710 back. In any case, the average payments aren’t that big.
Just so you know, the average retirement benefit amount is $1,918 as of June 2024. The same checks that retirees get can also be used to pay SSDI. People who get SSDI can get up to $3,822 in checks or direct deposits, or about $1,537 a month.
